CompTIA Project+
I. Overview:
CompTIA Project+ is the only industry certification designed to teach IT pros the entry-level skills they need to successfully manage small to medium-sized projects. It showcases professionals' capabilities in planning, executing, and delivering projects on time and within scope while ensuring effective communication and resource management. CompTIA Project+ focuses on practical, hands-on skills to tackle real-world project challenges.
II. Duration: 48 hours (6 days)
III. Objectives:
- Understand the properties of a project, including phases, schedules, roles and responsibilities, cost controls, and the fundamental aspects of agile methodology.
- Analyze the impact of various constraint variables and influences throughout a project while applying risk strategies and activities.
- Implement appropriate communication methods and change control processes within the context of a project.
- Utilize various project management tools and create project and partner-centric documentation to support project success.
IV. Prerequisites:
- Recommended experience: equivalent to 6–12 months of hands-on experience managing projects in a tech environment

1. Project Management Concepts
- Explain the basic characteristics of a project and various methodologies and frameworks used in IT projects.
- Compare and contrast Agile vs. Waterfall concepts.
- Given a scenario, apply the change control process throughout the project life cycle.
- Given a scenario, perform risk management activities.
- Given a scenario, perform issue management activities.
- Given a scenario, apply schedule development and management activities and techniques.
- Compare and contrast quality management concepts and performance management concepts.
- Compare and contrast communication management concepts.
- Given a scenario, apply effective meeting management techniques.
- Given a scenario, perform basic activities related to team and resource management.
- Explain important project procurement and vendor selection concepts.
2. Project Life Cycle Phases
- Explain the value of artifacts in the discovery/concept preparation phase for a project.
- Given a scenario, perform activities during the project initiation phase.
- Given a scenario, perform activities during the project planning phase.
- Given a scenario, perform activities during the project execution phase.
- Explain the importance of activities performed during the closing phase.
3. Tools and Documentation
- Given a scenario, use the appropriate tools throughout the project life cycle
- Compare and contrast various project management productivity tools.
- Given a scenario, analyze quality and performance charts to inform project decisions.
4. Basics of IT and Governance
- Summarize basic environmental, social, and governance (ESG)factors related to project management activities.
- Explain relevant information security concepts impacting project management concepts.
- Explain relevant compliance and privacy considerations impacting project management.
- Summarize basic IT concepts relevant to IT project management.
- Explain operational change-control processes during an IT project.
